Timeless Elegance

Here I am at Pitti again. I attended this big fashion event with my friend Federico, who was working there.
For the occasion I chose to wear this kimono-like thing, keeping it black and simple.

I'm very into kimonos, I own quite some of them and wear them very often because they make me feel very elegant and original.
Years ago my japanese friend Takeru brought me a  traditional summer kimono as a gift from Tokyo. It is made in fine cotton with a wonderful fish pattern. I keep it like one of the most precious thing in my closet.
I recently read in this gorgeous book the section talking about the japanese female clothing during the VIII century and the Heian period, it has been enlightening and fascinating for the priceless materials and the deep worth and meanings given to the colours, layers and patterns.

Luckily over the past few years kimono fashion became very popular, that means that there's a huge wealth of choices to spoil me with.
I like wearing them keeping the underneath clothing veeery simple (black jeans and t-shirt always look flawless), I think that a beautiful kimono completes the look itself.
Sometimes I like to dare adding quite many accessories for a more vintage and boho look.
